If you want a job that will allow you to travel, this will be possible by being a nanny for a wealthy family.
If you want a nanny job that will allow you to obtain a work visa or permanent residence permit abroad, it’s going to be more complicated… especially if your goal is to work in the United States, or the United Kingdom where the rules have changed for everyone since Brexit.
Too many nannies apply abroad thinking that visas are part of the package, or even without considering the visa issue at all. As we tell you all the time, in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe, nanny jobs do not come with visa sponsorship. Families and recruiters are looking for candidates who are already legally authorized to work in the country of employment, not applicants seeking visa sponsorship.
Just because you can go on vacation to a country without a visa doesn’t mean you can also work there. And just because a nanny agency or childcare website has job openings worldwide doesn’t mean you can be considered for jobs worldwide! Very often, if you don’t have responses to your applications (or if you end up blacklisted), it’s because you are applying in countries where you are not eligible to work! You should inquire about work visas before applying abroad, and you should only apply where you are eligible to work if you want your search to move forward.
Only positions in the Middle East can potentially come with visa sponsorship. If visas were sponsored for the USA, all nanny jobs would be filled there, and remember the rules have changed for everyone in the UK since Brexit.
If you want to combine nannying and travel, you will succeed. If your goal is to obtain a visa, nanny agencies and childcare websites cannot help you, you should instead contact an embassy or a lawyer specializing in immigration law…
