Reminder EU and UK Nannies :
It is not possible to work legally in the US with an ESTA or with a B1/B2 visa (even if the position is temporary or rotating) and unfortunately work visas are never sponsored.
If you don’t have a US passport or a Green Card, there is no point in applying for US-based positions. If you are not already authorized to work in the US, you will never find a job, because you will need a visa and nobody is going to sponsor you.
Many candidates assume that if they have extensive experience, they will be able to be sponsored. NO, as an overseas nanny, it’s just not possible to be sponsored, no matter how amazing your experience is.
The only childcare jobs that can possibly be sponsored are “Au Pair” jobs but the conditions to be eligible are very strict (you must be under 27 years old, you must be willing to study part time and obviously you must be willing to receive an au pair salary…)
Many candidates regularly do temporary contracts in the US with an ESTA or with a B1/B2 visa, and since they have never been got caught, they assume it’s allowed to work in the US with an ESTA or with a B1/B2 visa.
NO! These candidates do work ILLEGALLY and they can get in big trouble if they get caught working in the US with an ESTA or with a B1/B2 visa. They can be deported or banned from the country.

And if you want to try your luck at the Green Card lottery, the registration period for the FY2026 U.S. diversity visa (DV-2026) program opened on October 2, 2024, and closes on November 5, 2024!
