Many families and agencies seem to think that if a nanny doesn’t work 6/12, 24/5 or 24/6, they are not working full time.
They seem to think that 40-50 hours per week spread over 5 days is “part-time”… sorry but NO!!!
A “Full-time” Nanny is not one that can work every day at all hours of the day.
A “Full-time” nanny job is – like in any other industry – a 5 days a week job (usually Monday to Friday), 8 to 10 hours per day.
Nannies are no robots and they have lives outside of work. If they don’t have a good work-life balance, they will experience burnout.
Some Nannies may agree to work up to 60 hours per week or to work 6 days per week, but only if their wages reflect that.
If you require more than 50 hours per week, or more than 5 days per week, you may need to hire 2 nannies (for example : 1 Full time + 1 part time), as this is a much more attractive arrangement.
If you require 24 hour care, then you definitely need a team of rotating nannies.
If you have your nanny work more than 50-60 hours per week, you’re may breaking the law, and for sure you’re not going to keep your nanny for long!
