Brazilian Portuguese-Speaking Nanny – Chevy Chase, MD
A warm and welcoming family in Chevy Chase, MD is seeking an experienced Brazilian Portuguese–speaking nanny to care for their two children, ages 4 and 2. The family places a strong emphasis on bilingual language development and is looking for a nanny who is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and enthusiastic about supporting the children’s language skills through daily conversation, play, and meaningful engagement.
The family’s daughter is fully bilingual and speaks exclusively in Brazilian Portuguese with caregivers, while their son is actively learning Portuguese. This role is ideal for a nanny who enjoys language immersion, early childhood development, and creating a nurturing, stimulating environment.
Responsibilities
Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for two young children
Speak exclusively in Brazilian Portuguese with the children to support immersion
Foster language development through conversation, storytelling, songs, and play
Plan age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, social, and emotional growth
Prepare children’s meals and snacks as needed
Maintain tidiness in children’s play and activity areas
Support daily routines such as naps, transitions, and outings
Ideal Candidate
Fluent in Brazilian Portuguese (native or near-native preferred)
Passionate about bilingual education and early language acquisition
Warm, engaging, and playful, with a strong understanding of early childhood development
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Able to work collaboratively with parents and follow established routines
Prior nanny or childcare experience with toddlers and preschool-aged children
Schedule
Monday–Friday
7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation
$40–$45 per hour, DOE
