A family based in the Pacific Palisades is seeking a live-out governess for their daughters (aged 10 and 11-years), starting at the end of August. The schedule will typically be 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm Monday through Friday, with flexibility to travel with the family both domestically and internationally. Both girls are enrolled in an online program, and have teachers to assist them with specific subjects. However, the governess should be able to supplement their learning (relative to Grades 5 and 7), assist with assignments, as well as manage their academic and personal schedules more generally; purchasing learning materials, booking appointments, accompanying them and managing pick-up/drop-off at activities etc.
A formal teaching background is not required, though both girls are extremely creative, so someone with this demeanor/background would be best suited to the position. Candidates must be educated and patient disciplinarians, as well as sharp, savvy, worldly, with a zest for life, and an artistic flair (for music, acting, art or other). A love of travel is also a huge priority, and a British passport (or experience of living in the UK) would be a big plus, since the family regularly travel to London and Manchester for the father’s work. Spanish, French or Italian language skills are a bonus. Candidates must be pet friendly (large dogs). Driving the girls to activities (horse riding, karate etc.) will be required, so candidates must also have a clean and current driving license (the family will provide a car).
