Not everyone is going to agree with this, but it’s much easier to get another nanny job when you’re still employed.

Rightly or wrongly, most parents prefer to hire a nanny who is already employed.

That’s because they often assume that nannies who quit their jobs without another lined up did so because they were fired or were about to be fired or because they walk away when things get tough, which worries families since every nanny job has challenges.

Parents can often be prejudiced and often even if they need a nanny ASAP, they prefer to wait for a candidate to finish their contract or work their notice period rather than choosing a candidate who is currently unemployed, especially if they have been unemployed for some time…

That doesn’t mean being unemployed is an instant deal-breaker, but it’s highly likely to raise questions from employers and potentially make your job search harder.

So Nannies, don’t wait until you need a job to start looking and don’t feel bad for looking when you already have a job, you need to think about yourself first!
