So many candidates don’t even read job descriptions before applying for a nanny job, they just want to know the salary and if salary is high enough, that’s enough for them to apply!

It’s exasperating and what’s even more exasperating is that the candidates who want the highest salaries are not even “career” nannies, they are just money-driven candidates with limited childcare experience.

These  candidates wrongly assume that anyone can be a nanny and therefore anyone can have the highest salaries.

Ok, you don’t need qualifications to become a nanny and yes, you can have a 6 figure salary working as a nanny, but being a six-figure nanny (or an almost-six-figure nanny) requires a certain kind of person and a certain kind of experience.

Yes, salary is obviously important but first and foremost families are looking for candidates who love what they do not candidates who just want to make a whole bunch of money!

It’s completely ok for a candidate to have financial goals and no one wants to be underpaid, but it’s not just the salary that matters when looking for the right family.

More or less 100K per year is not the norm for a nanny, it’s absolutely doable, but not if you’re only interested in money…

Yes, families need to respect their employees and pay fairly, but you shouldn’t get into this unless you’re passionate about childcare!
