Many candidates don’t have the professional nanny experience they claim to have, and that’s because they make the mistake of including their personal experience with children in their professional experience.
Personal experience with children (for example being a mother, an aunty, an older sibling or helping family and friends with their kids) is definitely childcare experience, but it is not comparable to professional nannying, and that’s just not the kind of experience recruiters and employers are looking for.
Being a nanny is very different from caring for your own children, or the children of your family or friends, and in the industry only professional experience acquired through employment counts as nanny experience!
