Contrary to what many candidates think, accommodation, relocation, and visa sponsorship are not part of the standard benefits that nannies are entitled to…

These are benefits that some nannies obviously enjoy. But too many candidates believe that families are obligated to offer these 3 benefits if the candidate needs them, when that’s not the case at all.

Standard benefits that Nannies are entitled to and that families are required to provide include paid vacation, sick leave, overtime pay, guaranteed hours, health insurance, and travel reimbursement.

Accommodation, relocation, and visa sponsorship are benefits that can be offered, but that families are not required to offer.

Housing is often provided, as many positions in this industry are “live-in,” but that doesn’t mean nannies are entitled to this benefit.
Relocation is less common, and visa sponsorship is even less common!

Nannies can demand the standard benefits they are entitled to, they can demand free accommodation if the position is offered on a live-in basis, but they cannot demand the not-so-standard benefits such as accommodation (if the position is not live-in), relocation or visa.

Lots of candidates who complain about never getting any replies to their applications never get any because they apply thinking they can demand these 3 benefits when they can’t…

It’s very frustrating to see positions that might be a perfect fit for you, but the problem “just” lies in the housing, relocation, or visa. But that’s just the way it is!
If you need housing, relocation, or a visa to be provided to be the ideal candidate, but it’s not explicitly offered, trying to force things won’t work; you simply need to move on.

Actually, if you’re looking for a job that offers these perks/benefits, you’re better off looking for an au pair job!
There are so many more au pair positions than nanny positions that come with these 3 benefits, so you are more likely to get them as an au pair than as a nanny!
