A nanny who applies to too many vacancies at the same nanny agency or childcare website may find themselves blacklisted.

You may think you increase your chances of landing a job by sending multiple applications to the same place, but the opposite actually occurs. You come off as desperate, and more interested in simply having a job, versus seeking a career and being a good fit for the employer. Too many résumé submissions also make you look unfocused in the eyes of a recruiter. Desperate employees are rarely genuinely interested in their jobs, and tend to quickly move on once they find a better position.

Additionally, if recruiters have to sort through all the applications you’ve sent to find the ones you’re a potential match for, they’ll simply choose to ignore your applications because it’s not their job to do that…

We’re not saying you should only send one application to each nanny agency or childcare site. What we’re saying is that no one wants to work with a nanny who gives the impression that they’ll take any job offered to them.
So choose the positions you apply for carefully. Apply only to positions you’re honestly best suited for. And, if possible, try to apply for positions that are at least somewhat similar in terms of responsibilities, salary and qualifications. This will show that you are not just applying for anything.

Of course you can send more than one application to the same place, but only if all the positions you apply for are truly right for you!
Keep in mind that nanny agencies, job boards, and childcare websites always have numerous job openings because that’s their job: recruiting for numerous clients, helping numerous families connect with childcare providers, or advertising numerous job openings.
Typically, they help fill different types of positions, and it is very unlikely that all or many of these positions will be suitable for the same person.
Also, as we’ve already explained in other posts about mass applications, it’s just not possible to find a bunch of positions to apply for in one place in no time.

A good strategy to avoid being perceived negatively by recruiters is to limit your applications to two or three positions at a time at the same place. And obviously, these positions should closely match your qualifications, as you want to appear interested and focused.
To be able to send more applications without the risk of being blacklisted for submitting too many applications to one place, consider using multiple channels to apply.
Register with several agencies and several childcare sites, and above all, don’t forget that the best way to find work, and without the risk of being blacklisted, is networking!
