Personality matters more than you might think when looking for a nanny job…

Sometimes, if it doesn’t work for a position, it’s just a matter of personalities that don’t fit… and that’s okay!
It’s normal that not every agency can help you and that not every family is a good match, so don’t be discouraged if you keep getting rejected, just be persistent, finding the right personality match takes time!
People have different characters, some people don’t have good interpersonal skills, and it’s just not possible to click with everyone or even get along well with everyone.

Also, know that challenging personalities are actually a huge deal breaker for both recruiters and families, and that a simple inappropriate email : too arrogant, too directive, too desperate etc… can say a lot about someone’s personality and can be enough to decide that you don’t want anything to do with the person…
Sometimes you don’t even need to talk or meet someone to get a feel for their personality. And since skills can be taught, but difficult personalities are hard to change… sometimes parents prefer to work with slightly less experienced candidates than to deal with personality clashes…

Remember, families love finding nannies they will enjoy working with, and you should also look for a family with whom you will enjoy working!
