Many candidates don’t get it, and for some unknown reason, they seem to think that sending messages to recruiters all day long, by different means (emails, private messages or comments on social media, text messages, WhatsApp etc…) or that calling them every day will increase their chances of getting a response or being selected for an interview.

Bombarding recruiters with messages reflects poorly on you and it’s difficult to recommend as a nanny a nagging person who seems to think that people are at their beck and call.

Most of the time, messages that go unanswered are inappropriate or unconstructive, aggressive or even threatening. It’s normal that no one responds to your messages if they are pointless or unprofessional!

The job of recruiters is not to respond to every message that may reach them, and they are not obliged to devote their time to your personal needs if they don’t want to.

You need to give people a reasonable amount of time to respond. It’s ok to follow up after a few days but that’s it!
You need to understand that sometimes no answer is an answer. If you still don’t hear back after following up, you need to move on.

Yes, it’s more professional to always give a response, even negative, but here’s the thing: if recruiters had to respond to absolutely every message they receive, it would take them so much time that they would no longer be able to do the work for which they are paid… and the truth is that when they take the time to respond to all the messages, they receive even more messages which are generally rude…

You must never cross the line between persistence and harassment.
Stalking recruiters all day or every day is actually the best way to get no response!

Don’t forget that your behavior matters as much as the quality of your CV for recruiters!
Insisting can be a red flag or even a deal breaker, and that may be enough to get you blacklisted.
