Nannies are only responsible for light housekeeping duties related to childcare; house cleaning and other non-child related chores fall under the role of a housekeeper.
Nanny duties may include :
✅️ tidying up play areas / children’s bedrooms
✅️ preparing children’s meals
✅️ tidying up the kitchen after the children (and after the nanny)
✅️ doing children’s laundry / ironing children’s clothes
Nanny duties cannot include :
❌️ tidying up after the parents / cleaning parents’ mess
❌️ general household cleaning / deep cleaning
❌️ cooking for the parents
❌️ doing parents’ laundry/ ironing parents’ laundry
Nannies take care of children (not adults) and ensure their well-being, they are not responsible for all the housework for the whole family.
Some nannies are open to additional housekeeping duties, but most prefer clear boundaries…
