A private family on Upper West Side with three school age children (twin 11-year-olds and a 13-year-old) are looking for a part-time after-school nanny to work Monday through Thursday 4pm to 9pm (they are flexible on the hours for the right person). The ideal candidate must be kind, reliable, experienced, and enjoy working with middle school age children. It is important that this individual is positive, supportive, patient, and takes a nurturing approach.
The responsibilities include assisting with homework, school, and test preparation for their children, maintaining a healthy environment, and keeping a record of daily activities. Occasionally, the candidate will need to be flexible to assist with other duties as needed (e.g., accompany to an after-school activity, light meal prep etc.) and organizing in-home activities like reading, crafts, and games. They are not looking for someone to provide intense tutoring, but rather a warm, tech savvy, and supportive presence for their children.
Experience working with middle school children is a must, as is a proficient knowledge in math, science, grammar, and English (read, written, and verbal). It’s preferred that the candidate has an undergraduate degree and is a non-smoker. You must have up-to-date CPR and First Aid training, and should be comfortable with a large hypo-allergenic dog. The family has a private room available if the hired candidate is interested in living-in Monday through Thursday. The salary range offered is $30 to $45 per hour, and the rate will reflect the experience and skill-set of the hired candidate.
