Family in Scotch Plains, NJ is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Nanny to care for their 5-year-old child with special needs, as well as occasionally assisting with their 16-year-old daughter. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children with special needs and be comfortable supporting the child’s unique requirements.
Duties:
- Provide full-time care for the 5-year-old child, ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the day
- Assist with the child’s daily activities, including following a restricted diet and preparing appropriate meals
- Collaborate with the child’s occupational therapist, supporting therapy goals and activities
- Accompany the child to extracurricular activities, such as swimming lessons, and provide necessary assistance
- Maintain the child’s playroom and ensure it is well-organized and safe
- Manage the child’s laundry, bedding, and other necessary tasks related to their care
- Occasionally assist with the care of the 16-year-old daughter
- Perform general nanny duties, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in caring for children with special needs
- Experience working alongside occupational therapists and following therapy plans
- Driver’s license and comfort with driving the child to school and activities
- Warm, patient, and caring demeanor with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with another nanny for a few hours each week
