Wonderful family based in Atlanta, GA with 2 kids (20 months + 6 years), is seeking an outstanding Nanny/Private Educator! This position is open to ALL US candidates, and they have live-in accommodations if not local/preferred (private bedroom/bathroom). The younger child (toddler) is in school daily from 8am-3pm, while the older child (1st grader) is homeschooled. In this hybrid role, you will educate their older child, who was born deaf (and knows ASL, but is fluent in English), following a Waldorf inspired curriculum, and care for both kids as their nanny when not teaching. The older child is very bright, but was feeling overwhelmed in the classroom, and has been thriving with homeschooling. Grandma, who is a former educator, has been assisting the family thus far, but they need a more permanent solution at this point. The “school day’ will start around 8:30am, and you will spend roughly 3 hours a day implementing lessons and related activities (+ adequate planning time), while the rest of the day will include supervising independent play, planning fun activities and outings, playing outdoors, watching both children after 3pm, preparing simple kid-friendly meals, and light housekeeping pertaining to the children. If you value outdoor play, independent play, and allowing children to explore their own interests, this could be a really fun opportunity for you! The ideal candidate is patient, structured, flexible, fun but firm, knows how to set/enforce boundaries, and is passionate about education and working with children.
The family spends their summers (8-10 weeks) at their home in Savannah, GA, so please be up for a beach adventure (you’ll have a private bedroom/bathroom); if you’ve never been, Savannah is absolutely gorgeous! Must be able to swim, and comfortable in both pools and open water (ie, swimming with kids at the beach). One of the family members is immunocompromised, so they are very firm that all candidates MUST be fully vaccinated for Covid + eligible boosters, and willing to get an annual flu shot. They also have pets; 1 cat and a very large dog, so please be pet friendly.
