Families don’t just try to get discounts with nannies, they try with agencies too! And when the agency refuses to lower its commission, they often try to bypass it.

If you get an interview through an agency and the family then offers you the job on the condition that you do not inform the agency that put you in touch, you should never accept, because there may be serious consequences for you.

If you agree to bypass the agency when a family suggests it, you will not be able to benefit from their support if something goes wrong, and it is very likely that the family will take advantage of you.

Also, if the agency finds out, they can blacklist you, and there might be fewer future opportunities. To recoup lost commissions because the candidate agreed to bypass the agency, some agencies have a policy of charging the candidate if the client refuses to pay.

If you encounter such a situation, inform the agency immediately and stop all contact with the family to avoid any problems.
