For some reason, some candidates think they can apply for nanny jobs over the phone, much like they would order a pizza.
If you’re in the mood for pizza, you can call the pizzeria at any time to order it, as there’s someone there whose job it is to take orders right away over the phone.
On the other hand, if you’ve spotted a position that interests you, you can’t interrupt the recruiter’s work by calling them at any time to express your interest; it’s not even their role to take applications over the phone.
Recruiters cannot consider your application if you call them out of the blue, and if you think calling will speed things up, you will be disappointed, because the only response you will get is that you must send your application in writing (either by email or via an online application form), and in the end you will have just wasted time!
By calling out of the blue, you’re more likely to make a bad impression than a good one: nanny recruiters hate candidates who think people are at their beck and call, who think the rules don’t apply to them, or who don’t respect other people’s time.
So always follow the instructions for applying (which are never a phone call out of the blue) and if there are no specific instructions, always send your application in writing, you will definitely find an email address to send it to! And if you have targeted the right position for you, you should be contacted to set up an appointment and discuss the position!
