Nanny agencies don’t really like it when and they often look down on these candidates…
Yes it’s better to have longevity in your previous positions and not have any gaps in your CV but not everyone can have longevity and no gaps on their CV… and agencies know this very well because they recruit for many temporary positions, because many of their clients are returning clients because they do not know how to keep their nanny for long… and because finding a nanny position is anything but easy!
Generally, it’s not by choice that nannies don’t have longevity in their previous positions or have gaps in their resume, and not all nannies on the market are lucky enough to find work quickly or to find their “forever family”.
Sometimes temporary jobs or jobs with families who don’t know how to keep their staff is all there is available…
Sometimes nannies don’t want to accept anything and prefer to do temporary work while they continue to look for long-term work. Sometimes nannies can’t just sit around without knowing how they will pay their bills, so they have to take what’s available while waiting to find something better…
Some agencies consider these gaps, or the job-hopping unprofessional.
If it’s unprofessional, what about judging people based on that? and what about making their search more difficult by not supporting them?
