There are many possible reasons why a recruiter might not respond or stop communicating.
When you don’t have a response to your application, you also have to know how to question yourself instead of looking for someone to blame…
Here are 5 Reasons why you may be ghosted by a nanny recruiter
1 – Your resume is not professional enough and doesn’t attract attention
Your resume is out of date, incomplete or has inaccurate information.
Your resume has typos, is poorly formatted or is completely illegible!
Your CV may go unnoticed even if you are an excellent candidate, so it may need to be revamped!
2 – You are targeting the wrong jobs
Your resume doesn’t match the job description.
You don’t have enough experience or you don’t have the right experience, skills or qualifications.
Your have unrealistic salary expectations.
You should be honest with yourself, and apply only if you genuinely meet all the requirements.
3 – Your attitude is problematic
You behave in a rude or unprofessional manner. You are unresponsive or slow to respond yourself.
You have missed interviews or trials in the past. You lied on your CV or faked your references in the past.
Your social media is public and unprofessional. You lack discretion or you don’t seem to understand the concept of privacy.
No one will want to put their reputation in line and recommend you if you behave questionably.
4 – You misunderstand the role of the recruiter
You wrongly assume that recruiters have time to respond to all the applications they receive and are obliged to do so.
You wrongly assume that the recruiter job is to find you a job (their job is to find candidates for their clients).
Agencies only get paid when they place a candidate, so they must put profit before people, and they don’t always have time to devote to you if they know you won’t be placed.
5 – You only see things from your point of view
Perhaps the position is on hold or perhaps they are no longer hiring for the position.
The agency can be itself ghosted by the client (yes, it often happens!)
Your application may not have been received if you applied the wrong way or contacted the wrong person.
Sometimes you have to try to put yourself in the recruiter’s shoes before complaining…
