If the answer to these 5 questions is not an honest yes, you are not the right candidate and there is no point applying.
If you apply anyway, you will just waste your time, and you shouldn’t be surprised if no one answers you!
1. Can I live and work in the country of employment without a visa?
Families and recruiters do not seek candidates who need or seek visa sponsorship. They seek candidates who are already authorized to work in the country of employment.
Nanny jobs never come with visa sponsorship in Europe, the UK, USA and Australia. If you need visa sponsorship, there’s no point applying in these locations, you’ll juste waste your time.
Only Middle East jobs can possibly be sponsored.
2. If the position is Live-out, can I commute to work?
Families are under no obligation to offer accommodation or relocation.
When the position is “Live-out”, families and recruiters do not seek candidates who need relocation assistance, nor are they looking for candidates willing to relocate at their own expenses. They seek candidates who are already based locally and who can commute daily.
If you can’t commute to work, you will not be considered for Live-out positions.
3. Do I speak the required languages at a native level?
Being fluent in a language is not enough to be considered for a bilingual nanny job.
Families want native speakers with a flawless accent. They are willing to pay the price for native speakers, not for fluent ones.
If you do not speak the required languages at a native level, no need to apply, you will not be considered.
4. Do I genuinely meets all the requirements?
Families want candidates who meet all their requirements, not some of their requirements.
Families and agencies want to find the perfect match and again they are willing to pay the price for the perfect match, not for candidates who do not match what they are looking for.
You have to be honest with yourself, and refrain from applying when you don’t tick all the boxes.
5. Do the conditions advertised work for me?
It’s essential to take the time to read the jobs postings carefully and make sure the conditions advertised (salary, work hours etc..) work for you. Applying when you know full well the conditions don’t suit you is a waste of time for everyone. No employer will change their requirements to suit your needs!
