Nannies, these 5 job search strategies are your favorites when you’re looking for a nanny job but they do not work…
If you use these methods, you shouldn’t be surprised if your applications are unsuccessful or you’re still looking, and if you continue to apply like this you may never find a job!
1- Apply for any job that’s available
You just need any job so you apply for anything, but applying for any open position will not increase your chances of getting a job. On the contrary, you are ruining your chances of getting one. It’s not possible to be a good fit for any open position, the recruiter or employer will just feel you are wasting your time and theirs!
2- Mass applications
More applications doesn’t mean more interviews and more opportunities! A job search isn’t about applying for as many positions as you can in the hopes of finding the right job. When looking for a new position, less is more…
3- Choose a keyword and apply to all the jobs that contain this keyword
Apply to absolutely all job offers that contain the word “ROTA” for example or all the jobs that are based in “Dubai” for example simply makes no sense. There’s no way that all of these jobs will match your profile just because they all contain a keyword that is of interest to you.
4- Apply knowing full well that you’re not a right fit and hoping that the employer will change their requirements so that the positions matches your profile
It’s not forbidden to dream, but that’s not how it works. In this industry, recruiters and employers want to hear from candidates who meet all of their requirements, not some of their requirements. If your profile does not match the requirements, it’s not up to the employer to change their requirements, it’s up to you to be realistic : you are not the right candidate and you need not apply.
5 – Just wait for a job to come to you
Too many candidates expect nanny agencies to do all the hard work for them or assume that posting in a facebook group will get them a job. Nanny agencies do all the hard work for families looking to employ a nanny but not for candidates… and posting everyday the same message in a facebook group won’t get you a job. If you’re not actively looking and if you don’t network, you won’t find work!
To succeed in your job search, you must first be proactive and be able to be honest with yourself.
Before applying, it’s essential to take the time to identify precisely the type of position that is right for you and to target that type of position only. It’s also important to read job postings carefully before applying.
The key is not to send lots of applications, it’s to send suitable applications, even if it means sending only 2 applications per month.
