☆ Don’t overshare
It’s difficult not to overshare because families overshare with you too, but this is not a two-way street where because they overshare you can overshare.
Be sure to stay professional in the amount of information you share, keep your previous employers’ private information confidential and save the drama for someone else!
☆ Don’t badmouth your previous employers
No matter how horrible your previous employers were and how badly they treated you, you should not criticize or complain about them to your potential future employers.
It is never appropriate to badmouth your former employers. If you speak negatively about your previous employers, people will assume that you will do the same with your future employer, which will be a turn-off.
☆ Don’t lie on your CV or about your references
Either you’ll be caught in your lie(s) and trust will be broken forever, or you’ll have to live with your lie(s), or even lie even more to avoid being caught. Either way, it’s not worth it.
