Nannies, it is better to send just one quality application rather than 100 random applications all over the place.
You must be thinking, but how can you get a job if you don’t send out as many applications as possible?
We are not at all saying that you should limit yourself to one application at a time and that you cannot apply for several jobs at once. Rather, we’re saying you need to be honest with yourself and make sure you really have what it takes for the positions you’re applying for.
It is indeed very rare to get a job by sending a single application, of course you have to send several to get interviews and ultimately a job. But it’s also very rare to have the right profile for dozens or hundreds of positions at once, so don’t assume that the more applications you send out, the better your chances of landing a job.
Quality over quantity!
It’s the quality of your applications that matters, and if you want to get responses and possibly be selected for an interview, you need to send multiple applications that truly match your profile. Sending applications just for the sake of sending applications is pointless!
It’s tempting to apply for any job that even vaguely matches your skills, and applying to hundreds of jobs may seem productive when you’re actively looking for a new position, but that’s not the case, casting too wide a net only leads to frustration and rejection.
Focusing on quality applications (and by quality applications, we mean jobs that are truly right for you) will lead to a more rewarding job search: you’ll get more responses, they’ll be more likely to be positive, and when you do get an interview, it’ll be for a position you’re more likely to get!
If you send out dozens or hundreds of applications and get no success, that’s normal because you’re “mass-applying” and recruiters can tell when a candidate randomly applies to everything.
It’s just not possible to have the right profile for so many positions, so you need to narrow down your search and focus on the roles that really suit you!
As strange as it may seem, it is by sending fewer, better-targeted applications that you will have more responses and more chances of landing a nanny position!
