First-time parents in Santa Barbara, California are expecting their first baby in June 2026 and are seeking an experienced, seasoned Newborn Care Specialist to provide overnight support during the early months. This is a nurturing, collaborative role ideal for a professional who is confident guiding new parents while offering expert newborn care and education.
The Newborn Care Specialist will gently support the family in establishing healthy sleep and feeding routines, while thoughtfully tracking the baby’s development and daily patterns. The ideal candidate will be calm, knowledgeable, and experienced in helping first-time parents build confidence during the newborn stage.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide overnight care for a newborn, ensuring safe, attentive supervision

Support feeding routines (breastfeeding or bottle-feeding assistance as needed)

Track and document feedings, sleep schedules, diaper changes, and behavioral patterns

Guide parents in establishing healthy sleep foundations and soothing techniques

Monitor developmental progress and flag any concerns appropriately

Maintain a calm, supportive presence while respecting the parents’ preferences and parenting style

Assist with light newborn-related tasks during shifts (bottle prep, sterilizing, tidying nursery areas used overnight)
Schedule & Compensation:

4–5 nights per week

10–12 hour overnight shifts

3-month contract

$35–$45 per hour (DOE)
