A family on the Upper East Side is seeking a proactive and experienced full-time nanny for their two children, an 18-month-old girl and a 2-month-old boy. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the area, including local parks, classes, and other activities, and must be comfortable navigating the neighborhood. This is a live-out, long-term position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A flexible start date is offered, with a preference to have someone in place before the mother returns to work mid-January.
The role is full-charge and requires a nanny who is independent, communicative, and takes initiative. Duties include caring for the children, preparing simple meals for them, tidying and organizing their spaces, and assisting with their laundry when needed. While the family has a housekeeper, they value someone who can contribute to maintaining an organized household. The nanny should notice when items like groceries are running low and take the initiative to start a list. Strong communication skills are essential, as the parents are very involved and prefer a nanny who will follow their lead in raising their children.
Travel is minimal but may include occasional trips to the Hamptons during the summer for up to a week, or potential rare trips to Palm Beach. Swimming and driving are not required for this role. The family has a small, quiet Shih Tzu, but no pet care is required. They value someone who can step into this role with warmth, reliability, and professionalism, and who will contribute to the positive, loving environment they have created.
Pay: $32-35/hour
