Private Educator / Governess – School-Aged Children, Melbourne, Australia
A high-profile family based in Melbourne, Australia is seeking an experienced Private Educator / Governess to oversee the education of four school-aged children. This is a long-term role for a highly qualified educator with a strong background in primary education, previous experience working in private households, and the ability to deliver structured learning both alongside formal schooling and while travelling extensively with the family.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for educational oversight, curriculum support, and academic continuity during travel, while enriching the children’s learning through creativity, research, and real-world experiences connected to the destinations visited.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and support the education of four school-aged children alongside their formal schooling
Deliver and maintain school curriculum during travel periods to ensure continuity of learning
Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons aligned with the British curriculum
Incorporate creative learning, research projects, and destination-based insights into daily education
Track academic progress and adapt learning strategies as needed
Foster curiosity, independence, and critical thinking
Travel extensively with the family
Drive children as required (automatic vehicle)
Essential Requirements
Native English speaker
British passport holder (required for visa eligibility)
Primary Education degree
QTS with proven teaching experience
Previous long-term experience working as a Private Educator / Governess in private households
Strong knowledge of primary-level curriculum delivery
Confident, calm, and adaptable with frequent international travel
Confident driver (automatic)
Schedule & Compensation
60 hours per week, worked over 5 days
AUD $125,000 per annum
