A thoughtful family in Gramercy Park, New York City is seeking a Montessori-minded nanny to care for their curious and active 16-month-old daughter. Mom works from home, so they are hoping to find someone who is confident working independently, while also enjoying a collaborative and respectful relationship with parents.
This role is perfect for a nanny who genuinely enjoys the toddler stage and understands how much learning happens through everyday experiences. The family values a Montessori-inspired approach that encourages independence, exploration, and hands-on learning. Rather than filling the day with constant entertainment, they would love someone who can thoughtfully create opportunities for discovery, practical life skills, and meaningful play while maintaining a calm and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Providing attentive daily care for a 16-month-old child
Planning and implementing Montessori-inspired activities that support learning and development
Encouraging independence, confidence, and age-appropriate self-help skills
Supporting developmental milestones through play, exploration, and daily routines
Organising enriching outings, walks, and local activities
Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the child
Managing nap schedules, feeding routines, and daily transitions
Handling all child-related duties, including laundry and organisation of toys, clothing, and supplies
Keeping the child’s bedroom, play spaces, and learning areas tidy and inviting
Communicating regularly with parents regarding milestones, routines, and daily activities
The family is ideally looking for coverage Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (30 hours per week), although they can offer up to 40 hours weekly for the right candidate.
Compensation: $35 per hour
