A family in Culver City is seeking a nanny to care for their 8 year old and baby on the way. The baby is due at some point this winter. Their 8 year old daughter is in school full time, so the main responsibilities for her will include school drop off and pick up. During the day, you will be responsible for the baby. We are seeking someone who is seasoned and confident with caring for an infant (and pivoting to handle both when the older child is home).
The ideal candidate is friendly, with a calm and cheerful energy, patient, loving, and has a true desire to be helpful to a family. The candidate should have experience with school age kids and newborns, a vast knowledge of ages and stages, can keep track of milestones, come up with creative, fun, age appropriate activities, and act as a right hand to mom or dad as needed. Please be comfortable with full charge child care, including bathing, dressing, meal prep, feeding, taking walks, trips outdoors, tidying up after the kids, facilitating sleep routines, and so on.
The typical schedule for the day will begin with getting the 8 year old out the door in the morning (possibly breakfast prep), taking her to school, and then back home to care for the baby. After school will include pick up, taking her to tutoring, swim lessons, flute/piano lessons, or just hanging and playing with her until mom and dad are done working for the day. There will also be a need for making lunch for school the following day.
Must be an excellent communicator and have a safe, reliable vehicle and clean driving record. The ideal candidate lives locally to Culver City (bonus, but not a deal breaker), and will be open to babysitting on occasion. There are 2 cats in the home, so must be cat friendly. The family may ask you to travel with them from time to time, so please have a valid passport and be ready to go!
