ROTA Nanny / Governess Job in Chigwell, Essex | 7+ & 11+ Tutor | 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off | Live-In Role with International Travel
A warm and busy family based in Chigwell is looking for an experienced Governess to support the education, development, and day-to-day lives of their children. This is a sole charge position working on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, best suited to someone energetic, highly organised, and genuinely passionate about helping children grow in confidence both academically and socially. The family is specifically seeking a candidate with proven experience preparing children for 7+ and 11+ examinations, who can bring structure, creativity, and encouragement into the children’s daily routines. Mum and extended family are involved and around at times, so the role would suit someone confident working independently while also communicating well within a family environment.
This is far more than a tutoring role, the family is hoping to find someone who can become a positive and consistent presence in the children’s lives. Alongside academic support, you’ll help manage schedules, organise activities, oversee school communication, and encourage good manners, kindness, and independence. The children lead full and active lives, so the ideal candidate will be naturally proactive, fun, and able to think ahead. Travel forms a big part of the role during school holidays, with trips throughout the USA, Europe, and Asia, making flexibility and adaptability essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sole charge care and oversight of the children
- Managing school runs, after-school activities, and playdates
- Preparing and tutoring children for 7+ and 11+ examinations
- Supporting homework, educational progress, and developmental learning
- Planning creative, engaging indoor and outdoor activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour, manners, respect, and kindness
- Managing children’s schedules, appointments, and school communications
- Liaising with schools, medical professionals, parents of friendship groups, and extended family members
- Organising and tidying children’s bedrooms, play areas, and belongings
- Wardrobe management including sourcing clothing, educational materials, and creative supplies
- Travelling internationally with the family during school holidays
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience tutoring children for 7+ and 11+ exams is essential
- Confident driver required — a 4×4 vehicle will be provided
- Fluent English speaker
- Warm, energetic, organised, and naturally engaging personality
- Able to confidently manage children’s routines, education, and administration independently
- Comfortable travelling internationally with the family

Compensation: £60,000 – £75,000 gross per year
