A French-speaking family in Paris is looking for an experienced English-speaking Governess to support the development of their 5-year-old son. The family is bilingual in English, and the boy already speaks English well. The main aim of the role is to give him greater exposure to natural, fluent English and help him develop a clear, confident accent and accurate pronunciation. The Governess will provide English conversation throughout the day and introduce engaging activities that encourage the child to use the language naturally.
This is an educationally focused role suited to a qualified teacher who enjoys working closely with one child. The Governess will work around the child’s school schedule, covering mornings and afternoons on school days and full days during school holidays or other days when school is not in session. The family is looking for someone warm, engaging and confident who can make English an enjoyable and natural part of the child’s everyday life.
This is a live-out position in Paris, so candidates must already be based locally and able to work without accommodation being provided. The schedule is five days per week, and the two days off will be consecutive, although they may not always fall on Saturday and Sunday. The salary is up to €1,400 gross per week, depending on experience and qualifications.
Requirements
Qualified teacher holding a minimum of PGCE or QTS
Native or fluent English speaker
Excellent spoken English and clear, accurate pronunciation
Previous experience working as a governess, private teacher or educator for young children
Experience working with children around preschool or early school age
Strong understanding of language development and English immersion
Confident creating engaging, age-appropriate educational activities
Warm, patient and encouraging personality
Professional, discreet and reliable
Already based in Paris
Salary: Up to €1,400 gross per week
