A family in Palo Alto, California is seeking a Mandarin-speaking nanny / early-childhood educator to provide dedicated care for their toddler. This is a full-time position focused entirely on the child’s development, daily routines, and learning environment, rather than general household management or housekeeping. The family is looking for a warm, knowledgeable professional who can bring structure, calm, and intentional early learning into the child’s everyday life.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in early childhood education, with experience or training in Montessori, RIE, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Pikler, or other developmentally informed approaches. The role is centered on play-based learning, supporting emotional, cognitive, and physical development through thoughtful engagement, language exposure, and age-appropriate activities. Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is essential, with the ability to naturally incorporate language development into daily interaction.
This position is well suited to someone with experience in private households, ideally with high-net-worth or highly private families, who understands the importance of discretion, communication, and professional boundaries. The role requires excellent judgment, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting a toddler’s evolving needs. The schedule is Monday through Friday, full-time hours, with a competitive compensation range of $50–$75 per hour depending on experience.
Requirements:
Fluent Mandarin or Cantonese speaker with strong English communication skills
Background in early childhood education or developmentally grounded approaches (Montessori, RIE, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Pikler, etc.)
Proven experience caring for toddlers in private households
Experience working with high-net-worth or private families preferred
Strong understanding of play-based and child-led learning
Excellent judgment, discretion, and professionalism
Strong communication and flexibility in dynamic environments
CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
Clean driving record and ability to drive locally as needed
