SEN nanny needed to support a family with two children (ages 6 and 4), with the main focus on their 6 year old autistic son. The family are looking for someone warm, steady, and intuitive who can create a calm, predictable after school environment and help him regulate, decompress, and navigate social and sensory challenges. The role requires someone confident supporting neurodivergent children, comfortable with gentle co-regulation, and skilled at building trust through play, creativity, and clear routines.
During school hours, the nanny will handle light child-related housekeeping, but the core of the role is specialist support, emotional understanding, and helping their son feel safe, settled, and understood at home.
Duties
Childcare:
* After school emotional regulation, transitions, and decompression
* Supporting sensory needs and helping him manage big feelings
* Gentle guidance through co-regulation (no punitive approaches)
* Encouraging positive sibling interactions
* Structured play, creative activities, and imaginative engagement
* Social support with turn-taking, flexible thinking, and joining in
* Maintaining predictable routines to reduce anxiety
* School pick ups and communication with teachers/SENCo as needed
* Calm, consistent support for evening routines
Light Housekeeping:
* Tidying children’s bedrooms and play areas
* Children’s laundry and organisation
* Preparing healthy, child-friendly meals
* Getting uniforms, bags, and next-day items ready
This is a Monday – Friday position, 40 hours per week and the role can be live-in or live-out.
