A private family based in Dubai is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Live-Out French speaking Tutor / Governess to support their 11-year-old child as they enter Year 6 at an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school. This is an academically focused role for an educator who understands the IB approach and can help a student make a confident transition into the MYP curriculum while developing strong study habits and greater independence. The family is looking for someone who can make learning engaging and approachable while providing the right level of structure and encouragement.
The successful candidate will take a broad view of the child’s education, supporting academic progress while helping them become a more confident, organised, and independent learner. French will also be incorporated naturally into daily conversations and activities to support language development.
This is a live-out position within a private household, with no accommodation provided. Candidates must already be based in Dubai and able to work without visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily academic support, homework assistance, and subject revision in line with the IB MYP curriculum
Support the student’s transition into the IB MYP programme and develop effective study habits
Strengthen academic writing, research, essay-writing, and presentation skills
Encourage independent learning, organisation, time management, and accountability
Support school projects, presentations, drama activities, and other academic commitments
Liaise professionally with teachers and the school when appropriate
Incorporate conversational French into daily interactions and activities
Accompany the student to extracurricular activities and make productive use of travel time through revision, presentation practice, or educational discussion
Create engaging learning experiences tailored to the student’s interests, strengths, and individual needs
Explain complex concepts clearly across a broad range of subjects, particularly humanities and general sciences
Motivate and encourage the student while maintaining clear expectations and structure
Support the child’s confidence, personal development, and overall approach to learning
Requirements:
Native-level English with exceptional written and spoken communication skills
Fluent French, minimum C1 level
Proven experience teaching or tutoring within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and IB assessment criteria
Broad academic knowledge, particularly across humanities and general sciences
Ability to make complex subjects accessible, interesting, and relevant
Genuine passion for education and supporting children’s development
Excellent organisation skills and flexibility around the family’s schedule
Positive, energetic, and nurturing personality with the confidence to provide structure without being overly authoritative
Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate learning strategies
Professional, discreet, and comfortable working within a private family environment
Salary: AED 30,000+ per month, depending on experience and qualifications
