Having scheduled time off doesn’t make someone immune to burnout. Burnout isn’t just about the number of days you work, it’s about the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the job.

Rota positions can be just as mentally and physically demanding as any other nanny role. Long days, being constantly “on,” disrupted routines, high expectations, frequent travel, and caring for children in high-pressure environments can all take their toll.

Time off is important, but it doesn’t automatically undo chronic stress or emotional exhaustion.

Burnout can affect any nanny, regardless of the schedule they work. Recognising the signs early, setting healthy boundaries, and having supportive employers can make a huge difference.

What helps you stay mentally and physically well during your rotations, and how do you recharge between them?
