A private family based in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands is looking for an exceptional Montessori Nanny / Early Childhood Educator to care for their two young children, aged 3 and 1. The family is seeking someone who will become a trusted mentor, creating a calm, engaging environment where the children feel secure, confident, and excited to learn every day.
This is much more than a traditional nanny role. The family is looking for someone with a strong educational background who can thoughtfully support each child’s development, encourage independence, and help lay the foundations for future academic success. Regular travel to the United States is part of the position, so flexibility and a genuine love of travel are essential. The successful candidate will enjoy working closely with attentive parents while having the autonomy to plan enriching activities and guide the children’s learning through meaningful everyday experiences.
Responsibilities:
Provide attentive, loving care for two children aged 3 and 1
Plan and deliver Montessori-inspired activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and independence
Support developmental milestones across cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
Prepare the older child for school through engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
Foster early literacy, numeracy, communication, and problem-solving skills
Create structured daily routines that balance learning, play, rest, and outdoor activities
Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
Organise educational resources and maintain stimulating learning environments
Drive the children to activities, appointments, and outings as required
Accompany the family on regular trips to the United States and other international travel when needed
Communicate with the parents regarding developmental progress and educational goals
Ensure the children’s safety, wellbeing, and happiness at all times
Requirements:
Degree in Early Childhood Education
Montessori training or recognised Montessori certification
Previous experience caring for infants and preschool-aged children in a private household or educational setting
Excellent understanding of child development and school readiness
Valid driver’s license
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
Warm, proactive, organised, and professional approach
Excellent references from previous employers
Position Details:
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience
