Ryedale, Yorkshire
Role: Permanent Residential or Daily Nanny – mixture of shared care and sole charge
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7.30am to 6.30pm (will also consider early finish on a Friday)
Salary: £60,000 ++
Start Date: February – June 2025
A family based in Yorkshire is seeking an energetic, adaptable, and caring nanny to join their household. The role involves a mixture of sole charge and shared care for three children: a boy aged 8 and two girls aged 6 and 4. The children enjoy outdoor activities, art, science, and caring for their ponies. The family lives in a lovely countryside home with a private cottage available for the nanny. They visit their second home in Holland Park in the summertime (about 2 weeks total) and use it as a base when travelling out of the UK.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive, and possess strong emotional intelligence. They should thrive in a countryside setting and ideally have some experience with horses, even at a basic level. The family also owns a dog and two guinea pigs. The children love to swim with the property offering a heated swimming pool.
The family are aware that North Yorkshire might be a daunting prospect for some candidates, therefore, to recruit the best candidate for the position, they are open to discussing some kind of arrangement that might make travel easier at weekends, if this is something that is required.
The role offers flexible working hours with a core schedule Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6.30pm, with the possibility of an early finish on Fridays. Occasional weekend work (one weekend per month) and one proxy overnight stay per week may be required. A car is provided for sole use, with the option of full use if needed, so a full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
Key responsibilities include creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for the children, planning fun and educational activities, assisting with basic horse care, and preparing nutritious family meals. Tasks may include managing some family errands and grocery shopping. The family employs a full time housekeeper and gardener.
The family offers a range of benefits, including 20 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, additional time off between Christmas and New Year, and a £170 CPD budget for professional development. There are also opportunities for travel with the family to Europe, the Bahamas, skiing trips (although not essential) and occasional UK trips to visit family during the holidays.
